JACK DANIEL'S ART, BEATS + LYRICS

URBAN ART HITS CHARLOTTE

Art, Beats + Lyrics, a groundbreaking art movement that collides urban expression with art, is launching its first national five-city tour in Charlotte, NC, with Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey as title sponsor. The first event of the Jack Daniel’s Art, Beats + Lyrics (AB+L) tour, featuring live music, dance, and art installations, will take place April 25, from 7-11 pm at Center Stage at Noda. Tickets will be available at www.JackDaniels.com/ABL on March 24. All tickets are first come, first serve.

“It’s not your typical fine art event,” said AB+L co-creator Dubelyoo, a North Carolina native who has built a reputation as one of America’s leading proponents of cutting edge urban art. “This is art for our generation. It’s live music and art installations. It’s two extremes coming at you at the same time.”

By fusing photography, graffiti, painting, break dancing, deejaying, and live music, the Jack Daniel’s AB+L creates a performing arts exhibit that will feed patron’s senses. The Charlotte lineup includes live performances by the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble and Taylor McFerrin, son of Jazz legend Bobby McFerrin. There will be art works by Dosa Kim, Occasional Superstar, WAK, Gilbert Young, Tindel/Michi, Sean Kernick, Adrian Franks and event co-creator Dubelyoo, with Rasta Roots and Princess Cut on the ones and twos.

According to founder/co-creator Jabari Graham, of Atlanta, “AB+L brings together lovers of visual art, hip-hop, dance and urban culture in a mash up unlike anything else on today’s urban landscape. We want people to get excited about the arts again — to get exposed and excited. Jack Daniel’s Art, Beats + Lyrics is the perfect experience for just that.”

In addition to Charlotte, Jack Daniel’s Art, Beats + Lyrics will hit St. Louis, Baltimore, and Jackson, MS. Each city will boast a different set of performers with equally impressive presentations. The tour will close with a sensory celebration in Atlanta, Georgia.
